Designing life, William Morris and the constructivists

This article tries to look into the existing convergences between William Morris and the constructivists, that is to say, the artists from the end of the 19th century in Victorian England, and the avant-garde movement from the beginning of the 20th century in revolutionary Russia. Their resemblance has its roots in a theory and a redefinition of art that are very similar, and which are reinforced by the parameters of artistic production.A Utopian social project with a Marxist basis and a critical global context serve asnourishment to lead them through parallel paths to assemble and commit themselves towhat, today, we call design.
