Abstract

The article reviews the fleeting art expressions that were made in festive occasion of two anniversaries in the eighteenth-century in Manresa: the coronation of King Charles IV and the translation of the relics of the Saints Martyrs in his new altar in the Manresa’s Cathedral crypt. In the case of royal festivities street decorations were made, alluding to some reasons and symbolically linked directly to the progress and wealth of the city, the construction of the canal. Moreover, the feast of Saints Martyrs showed a triumphal chariot dedicated to Ceres and Minerva, accompanied by couples dressed as if they came from various parts of the world, "cosmopolitanism" directly related to the "painting caste“.
